Cape May, New Jersey, cut in real wood

Cape May sits at the very southern tip of New Jersey, with the harbor and the Nature Center of Cape May on the bay side, Routes 109 and 640 leading in, and the Victorian beach town's grid of streets running down to the Atlantic. If you've spent summers on the Cape May beaches or kept a shore house down the Parkway's last exit, this is your town.

How we make it

The land is layered maple, laser-cut along the shoreline and engraved with the roads and landmarks. Underneath, the water is hand-painted blue with the depth contours scored in, so the shoreline casts a real shadow. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut. Every map is cut, painted and assembled by hand in our Newark, NY shop.
