The smallest of the Finger Lakes

Canadice Lake is about 3 miles long and a third of a mile wide, sitting at 1,096 feet south of Rochester. It's part of the City of Rochester's drinking water supply, so the shoreline is wrapped in the forested Hemlock-Canadice State Forest, and boats are limited to small craft with 10 hp motors or less. It's one of the quietest, wildest corners of the Finger Lakes.

How we make it

The land is layered maple, laser-cut along the shoreline and engraved with the roads and trails. Underneath, the water is hand-painted blue with the lake's depth contours scored in, so the shoreline casts a real shadow. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut. Every map is cut, painted and assembled by hand in our Newark, NY shop.
