Finger Lakes Wood Maps: A Lake-by-Lake Gift Guide
Share
We're Tami and Jennifer, and our little shop sits in Newark, NY, right at the top of the Finger Lakes. So it's no surprise that the question we hear most at the counter is "Do you have my lake?" If you're looking for a Finger Lakes map to hang in the lake house, give as a Christmas gift or send to someone who moved away, here's a lake-by-lake guide to the layered wood maps we make right here in our shop.
What our Finger Lakes wood maps are like
Each ready-made map stacks laser-cut, engraved maple land over hand-painted blue water, with the depth contours scored in so you can see the shape of the lake bottom. Towns, roads and landmarks are engraved around the shoreline. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut (or painted black, same price), and it's ready to hang.
- Price: $49
- Size: most are 12.4 x 16.4 in. framed. A few run different, like Seneca Lake (8.25 x 17 in.), Conesus Lake (11 x 17 in.) and the all-11-lakes Finger Lakes map (17 x 11 in.). Every map page lists its exact size.
- Ships: leaves our Newark, NY shop in 1-2 business days

The whole region: the Finger Lakes map
Can't pick just one? Our Finger Lakes wood map shows all 11 lakes in one piece, from Conesus in the west to Otisco in the east. It's the one we recommend for anyone who loves the whole region, or for a family that's spread across a few different lakes.
Lake by lake
Seneca Lake
The largest of the Finger Lakes, and the heart of wine country. Our Seneca Lake map is taller and narrower than the others (8.25 x 17 in.) to fit that long shape.
Cayuga Lake
The longest Finger Lake, stretching about 38 miles north from Ithaca and reaching 435 feet at its deepest. The Cayuga Lake map runs the whole length, from Seneca Falls and Cayuga down to Ithaca.
Keuka Lake
The Y-shaped "Crooked Lake," and the third-largest Finger Lake. If your family has a cottage near Penn Yan, Branchport or Hammondsport, the Keuka Lake map is for you.
Canandaigua Lake
The "Chosen Spot," and the fourth-largest Finger Lake. Our Canandaigua Lake map makes a great housewarming gift for folks who just bought on the lake.
Owasco Lake
About 11 miles long, running south from Auburn, with Emerson Park at the north end. See the Owasco Lake map.
Conesus Lake
The westernmost Finger Lake, about 8 miles long in Livingston County, roughly 25 miles south of Rochester. See the Conesus Lake map.
Honeoye Lake
One of the smaller Finger Lakes at about 4.5 miles long, in Ontario County, with the hamlet of Honeoye and Sandy Bottom Park at its north end. See the Honeoye Lake map.
Canadice Lake
The smallest Finger Lake, about 3 miles long, wrapped in the Hemlock-Canadice State Forest. See the Canadice Lake map.
Loon Lake (Steuben County)
Not one of the big eleven, but a local favorite: a glacier-made kettle lake high in the western Finger Lakes hills near Wayland and Cohocton. See the Loon Lake map.
Don't see your lake? We'll make it.
Skaneateles, Otisco, Hemlock, a farm, a vineyard or the street you grew up on: if it's on Google Maps, we can put it on wood. Our custom wood map ($125). Tell us the place, we email you a digital proof before we cut a single piece, and it ships 3-5 business days after you approve your proof.
