Fourteen miles of Adirondack lake, cut in real wood

Long Lake is a glacial widening of the Raquette River in the heart of the Adirondacks, running about 14 miles southwest to northeast and covering roughly 4,077 acres. Route 30 crosses at the narrows by the hamlet of Long Lake, and more than half the shoreline is state Forest Preserve. This map runs from Deerland and the hamlet all the way up to the wild north end.

How we make it

The land is layered maple, laser-cut along the shoreline and engraved with the roads, campgrounds and trailheads. Underneath, the water is hand-painted blue with the lake's depth contours scored in, so the shoreline casts a real shadow. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut. Every map is cut, painted and assembled by hand in our Newark, NY shop.
