Carova to Ocracoke, cut in real wood

The Outer Banks run from Carova and Corolla all the way down to Ocracoke, with the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds on one side and the Atlantic on the other. Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills are where the Wright brothers made the first powered flights on December 17, 1903. Nags Head, Manteo, Rodanthe, Avon, Buxton out at Cape Hatteras and Hatteras Village are all on here, along with the mainland side from Elizabeth City down to Swanquarter.

How we make it

The land is layered maple, laser-cut along the shoreline and engraved with the towns, roads and highways. Underneath, the water is hand-painted blue with the depth contours of the sounds and the ocean scored in, so the shoreline casts a real shadow. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut. Every map is cut, painted and assembled by hand in our Newark, NY shop.
