Mile Marker 0, cut in real wood

Key West is only about 4 miles long and a mile wide, from Old Town and Mallory Square, where the nightly Sunset Celebration sends the sun down over the Gulf, to Casa Marina and the Southernmost Point Buoy at South and Whitehead Streets. Fleming Key, Dredgers Key, Stock Island and Key Haven are all here too, with the island's street grid engraved in and the title and compass engraved right into the blue water.

How we make it

The land is layered maple, laser-cut along the shoreline and engraved with the street grid and neighborhoods. Underneath, the water is hand-painted blue with the depth contours scored in, so the shoreline casts a real shadow. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut. Every map is cut, painted and assembled by hand in our Newark, NY shop.
