Upper Manhattan to Astoria, cut in real wood

This map runs from Harlem and the Upper West and Upper East Sides across the East River to Astoria. Central Park's 843 acres and its lakes and reservoir sit in the middle, with the Hudson on one side, the Harlem River and Randalls Island on the other, and the East River running down past Hell Gate.

How we make it

The land is layered maple, laser-cut along the shoreline and engraved with the neighborhoods, parks and streets. Underneath, the water is hand-painted blue with depth contours scored in, so the shoreline casts a real shadow. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut. Every map is cut, painted and assembled by hand in our Newark, NY shop.
