Chautauqua Lake runs about 17 miles from Mayville to Jamestown and sits at 1,308 feet, one of the highest navigable waters in North America. Bemus Point splits it into two basins: a deeper north basin that reaches 75 feet and a shallow, weedy south basin. This map shows both, from Mayville, Chautauqua and Dewittville at the north end past Bemus Point and Stow to Lakewood, Celoron and Jamestown.

How we make it

The land is layered maple, laser-cut along the shoreline and engraved with the towns, roads and highways. Underneath, the water is hand-painted blue with the lake's depth contours scored in, so the shoreline casts a real shadow. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut. Every map is cut, painted and assembled by hand in our Newark, NY shop.
