Lusby and the tip of Calvert County, cut in real wood

Lusby sits at the tip of Calvert County, Maryland, where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake Bay, with Calvert Cliffs State Park, Cove Point and Drum Point along the shore.

How we make it

The land is layered maple, laser-cut along the shoreline and engraved with the roads and landmarks. Underneath, the water is hand-painted blue with the depth contours scored in, so the shoreline casts a real shadow. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut. Every map is cut, painted and assembled by hand in our Newark, NY shop.
