About 118 miles long and up to 23 miles wide, Long Island is the largest island in the contiguous United States, with Long Island Sound to the north and the Atlantic to the south. This long panoramic map runs from Brooklyn and Queens out past Southampton and Sag Harbor to the forks, with the Connecticut shore across the Sound.

How we make it

The land is layered maple, laser-cut along the shoreline and engraved with the towns and highways. Underneath, the water is hand-painted blue with depth contours scored into the Sound and the ocean, so the shoreline casts a real shadow. Then we frame it in 1/2" stained walnut. Every map is cut, painted and assembled by hand in our Newark, NY shop.
